The Best Wedding Venues in Milwaukee

While I definitely have not been to every venue in Milwaukee, these are some of my favorite so far! I’ll also include some that are on my own wishlist that I have not photographed a wedding at yet.

#1 Turner Hall Ballroom

Wedding in The Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Looks nice and rustic, and vintage.

The Turner Hall Ballroom is one of my all time places to photograph so far. There is a really cool vintage feel to the building. It feels elegant and classy. There is actually a lot of natural light and the lighting that they do have in the interior is really even and photographs well.

Check out some photo highlights from The Turner Hall Ballroom here.

#2 Milwaukee County War Memorial Center

Lake side view of Lake Michigan.

Panoramic views and a huge space for a wedding, what more could you ask for? This was an incredible location for a ceremony.

This place has it all. They have some really nice rooms to get ready in with lots of windows. As a photographer hotel rooms and getting ready type spaces often don’t have the best light. That is not a problem here with big windows with a Great Lake view.

Perhaps the best part of this venue is its proximity to other really great photo locations such as; Veterans Park, the lakeshore, and of course the Art Museum.

#3 Milwaukee Art Museum

Maybe it’s cheating to say this counts. But this place is just too cool. There is nothing that looks like this building anywhere else. Well except far away places like Zurich, Paris, and Valencia.

For me it’s really all about the The Quadracci Pavilion. It’s an iconic part of the Milwaukee skyline. I have been able to photograph many couples around the outside the building. And one of my favorite views in the city is on the Reiman Pedestrian Bridge.

I have not had a wedding inside of the pavilion yet and would even offer a steep discount for my first wedding inside, wink, wink.

#4 Grant Park

OH MY, would it be awesome in the summer to have a small wedding down here. I think that this would be an incredible place for bridal portraits, engagement sessions, an elopement, or an intimate wedding.

Here is the important part. Finding the right part of the park.

Don’t go to the main beach area! This is kind of a golden rule for taking photos anywhere actually.

Park by the seven bridges trail. It’s not too long of a walk from here down to the shore. Follow the trail across the bridge and down into a gorge/canyon (my geography isn’t the best). It will open up to the beach.

From here explore find a cool spot and go to work taking photos that look like they are from a destination like the Oregon coast.

South Shore Park

Maybe I really just like the views of the lake.

Kathleen and Adam loved South Shore Park so much we did their engagement photos and wedding reception here. The South Shore Park Beer Garden has a feel similar to many buildings in Milwaukee. Big open old warehouse type feel with lots of exposed brick.

What a place!

If you like green this is the place. With tons of outdoor garden space and unique indoor spaces this is near the top of my list for coolest wedding venues.

The grain exchange

The ultimate ballroom atmosphere. It looks like something from a Bond movie.

I really love that there is a second level. This always opens up a ton of possibilities for photography.

This really is just kind of “it” for this style of wedding. From the 1000ft ceilings, to all the windows, and the beautiful tones of the building.

The Pfister Hotel

So you want to get married in the sistine chapel, but don’t want to make all of your family and friends fly to Italy?

Well lucky you The Pfister Hotel exists right in Milwaukee.

Again just stunning.

Boat/Ferry rental

So I have actually been to a wedding on one of these and it was incredible.

We went out late afternoon and saw the sunset over the skyline from Lake Michigan.

I am not going to pretend to know which rental place is the best but I thought it was a really cool Idea. I love things like this that kind of just open a new world and give a destination wedding type feel. Just for a couple hours you and your family and friends are teleported somewhere else.

Let me know if I missed something. I’m excited to move to Milwaukee this summer!
