Fall Wedding at Seven Acre Dairy Company

Intimate Fall Wedding at Seven Acre Dairy Company

When I meet with couples for the first time I always ask what they see when they close their eyes and imagine their wedding. What is their vision? What do they want? Carly knew one thing that was really important to them.

They wanted the color green to be green.

It seems so simple, but is it? Green should probably look like the color green.

With wedding photography the color green isn’t always green. There are so many different styles and niches. Carly and Jacob wanted the colors in their photography to be natural. True to life. Just like their wedding. Their wedding was not about trying to fit into some kind of style or trend. It was about actual imperfect life and celebrating green being green. So when they found Seven Acre Dairy Co. which has a ton of beautiful real green space it was a perfect match.

Just as importantly I am not trying to make any couple fit into a box. I don’t have some predetermined style or aesthetic that I want to enforce on my couples. I don’t think that weddings should be a certain way.

There are no rules when it comes to weddings. I have so many couples that think they have to do certain things, and you don’t. Couples think that they have to do something because that is just what they are “supposed to do”. There are no rules.

I want the colors of your photos to be natural. As beautiful as possible definitely, but grounded in reality. Because telling your actual story of the couple, your family, friends, their wedding day is way cooler than anything else. I don’t want you even thinking about anything I am doing for like 95% of the day. I just want you to be present and fully enjoy the day.

When it comes time to “pose” I will guide, and I will adjust if it's wanted or needed. But I really do just want the real version of the couple whatever that actually is.

It is not about me. I really just show up and kind of match the energy that I am given. I can only photograph what actually happens.

Every wedding is special because it is your wedding. Not mine.

I promise you it’s really easy. Just be present and enjoy it. That is the whole point.

These two sure did.

The Day Started At Seven Acre Dairy Company

Seven Acre Dairy Company boasts a rich heritage, having operated as a dairy factory and creamery for nearly a century. Only about twenty minutes from downtown Madison, Wisconsin it’s a perfect wedding venue.

All of the getting ready accommodations at Seven Acre Dairy Co. were phenomenal. As a photographer I always get just a little nervous about getting ready spaces. Often photography is not enough of a concern when building hotels and dairy production buildings. This is mostly sarcasm, but it's true more often than not.

Fortunately Seven Acre Dairy Co. has been remodeled specifically for photographers. Well, at least that is what it felt like. The suites and rooms here have great, basically floor to ceiling windows, letting all that perfect natural light in for detail and getting ready photos.

After a quick shot at the bar for the boys, we were off and rolling.

One of the standout features of Seven Acre Dairy Company is its restaurant and bar, providing couples and their guests with incredible dining options. There is constantly a new menu rotating or a guest chef to come experience.

From farm-to-table cuisine to handcrafted cocktails and local brews, the culinary offerings at Seven Acre are sure to impress. Whether you're planning a rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour, or reception, the venue's culinary team will create a menu that exceeds your expectations.

I have a family member who is unfortunately allergic to most of the earth, and they had a phenomenal time here. Texting me mid meal to tell me it was the best food and service they may have ever had!

I believe everything on the menu was either from the couple’s own farm or locally sourced.

Ceremony at Green Fire Farm

Carly & Jacob had their ceremony on their own Green Fire Farm which is by itself a little slice of paradise.

On this early fall day, it was exceptional. There was a beautiful but not too gentle breeze that kept things from getting too hot, and the flowers were all in bloom.

Underneath the sprawling branches of ancient oak trees, well some were oaks I’m sure, Carly and Jacob exchanged vows in a ceremony that felt like something out of a Tolkien story.

Carly planted an entire garden specifically to have their wedding ceremony. Beautiful flowers that I have no idea what to call lined all sides of the ceremony garden and made one of the most special wedding spaces I have ever seen.

Party Time At Seven Acre Dairy Co.

Seven Acre Dairy Company is renowned for its outdoor spaces, which provide couples with a stunning backdrop for their wedding festivities. With seven acres (get it?) of restored oak savanna, the sugar river, manicured gardens, and private lawns, there's no shortage of picturesque settings to choose from. This is a perfect place for a stunning outdoor wedding.

My absolute favorite part of every wedding day is stealing ten minutes with the couple at sunset for some quick photos. These are always the best photos from the day!

As the evening really got started, Carly and Jacob returned to the tent, under the string lights. Then things became a little more familiar. We got speeches, which were SO GOOD, and first dances. For which Carly had one last surprise, changing into her grandmother's dress for her first dance with her father.

Tears were shed by all parties involved. I got to do my absolute favorite dancefloor tradition. Bounce-Flash off of a white tent. All of the sudden the dance floor has photo studio lighting and it never disappoints.

Simply one of my favorite weddings to date. Seven Acre Dairy Co. combined with some amazing humans made for an unbeatable combination. I loved all of the natural light, the Sugar River, all of the green space, food, and of course the people.

It really was a magical vibe. I highly encourage you to see if Seven Acre would be a fit for you!
